The Dave Holodiloff Sextet is making it’s debut performance at Flynn’s for another magical night of high energy acoustic music! Led by Monterey Bay native Dave Holodiloff on mandolin and vocals, the multi talented ensemble features some of the best musicians in the area including Michael Martinez (piano), Peter Mellinger (violin), Lex Olsen (guitar), Steve Robertson (percussion) and Bill Sullivan (bass). This is a rare not-to-be-missed performance!

The Dave Holodiloff Sextet is an original acoustic adventure that is equal parts jam and jazz, string band and symphony. A fantastic fusion of fun and sophistication, the music blends symphonic, traditional acoustic, and improvisatory elements to create a sound that is pure excitement. For fans of Bluegrass, Balkan, Celtic, World, Gypsy Jazz, Folk, or Funk, the music will both delight and surprise. The band brings high-energy fun performance and an all-age appeal.

Individual Bio’s:

Piano prodigy Michael Martinez brings a polished new age jazz sound to the group…watch out for his otherworldly solos, they just might transport you to another dimension!

Fiddle phenom Peter Mellinger hails from Carmel Valley and is well versed in both Classical, Celtic, Jazz, World, and Bluegrass (a rare combination in any performer) and has been playing with Dave Holodiloff since 2010.

Bill Sullivan is an all around stand up guy and stand up bass player who lays the groove down like nobody else! In addition to being a steady member of Dave’s Band since 2012, Bill also freelances with Blues and Rock ‘n’ Roll groups across the bay.

Lex Olsen is a dynamic Gypsy and Jazz guitarist who cut his chops touring with gypsy jazz ensembles like Farouche in the Bay Area. He exudes a refreshing youthful energy and adds that unmistakeable “Django-esque” gypsy flavor to the ensemble.

Steve Robertson is a multi-dimensional percussionist and educator. He brings a wealth of jazz and world music knowledge to the ensemble and keeps the heart beating within all of us. A graduate of San Jose University with a BA in Music Performance and Education, Steve has been active in performing, producing, and teaching in the Bay Area for more than 25 years.

Dave Holodiloff is a mandolin player, vocalist, composer, and band leader known for his inventive arrangements, expressive musicianship and ability to inspire partnerships with amazing musicians. Dave has made a name for himself both as a performer at festivals and concert venues and as an acoustic event entertainment specialist, bringing the party to weddings and events throughout Northern California and beyond. A devoted craftsman on the mandolin, his diverse recordings include Original Music, Balkan, Bluegrass, Jazz, Celtic, World Favorites, Holiday Classics, and even a Grateful Dead Bluegrass Tribute.
